Nashville Mayor Karl Dean invites Nashville families of all fitness levels to join him for a day of active play at LP Field, the home of the Tennessee Titans. Participants are engaged in a series of kid-friendly physical challenges on the field where the Titans play, including traditional field day games. Additional activities are setup throughout the stadium, including a fitness fair and the chance to meet and interact with Tennessee Titans players.
Mayor’s Field Day was created to show Nashville’s youth that being physically active and healthy can be fun. Tennessee has the nation’s fourth-highest childhood obesity rate. The numbers are equally distressing in Nashville where 38 percent of our youth are either obese or overweight.
In an effort to get our youngest Nashvillians and their families excited about being healthy and active, Mayor's Field Day is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged but not required. This is a rain or shine event. In the event of severe weather, please check the front page of this website for any updates.
Mayor Dean has challenged and inspired Nashville residents to get more physically active through several highly-successful healthy living campaigns. In addition to Mayor’s Field Day, Mayor Dean has twice hosted a walking campaign called “Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor” and for three years in a row, he has held a free “Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run” in downtown Nashville in the fall. Altogether, these efforts have engaged thousands of Nashvillians as the Mayor has worked to improve our city’s overall health.
Participants will be grouped together in teams of 10 to complete the on-field activities. Note: Activities are subject to change based on sponsor participation and weather.
The on-field activities kickoff with the team Trolley that will quickly unite your teammates in a fun team-building activity. Team members must work together to move the wooden team trolley with rope handles from the start to finish line without falling off. To successfully do this, teammates must work together to move the trolley in unison.
A cone course will be set for team members to navigate a car tire through in a figure-eight style. One teammate at a time will roll the tire through the course and back and then pass the tire on to the next team member to compete the tire roll relay as quickly as possible. The relay ends when all ten team members have successfully rolled the tire through the course.
This classic field day activity is sure to bring back some nostalgia. Two team members will compete to be the first to race to the finish line and back while tied to together at the leg.
Each team will run their players through a relay race.
We’d be remiss to give Nashvillians an opportunity to play where the Titans play without a chance to throw a football while on the field! Team members will work together to successfully throw ten footballs into the target can. Once all ten footballs have made it to the target, team members will cross the finish line as a group to complete the on-field activities.
Off-field activities (located in the concourse and parking lots):
